On Wednesday, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, an agreement was signed for the delivery of several tens of thousands of combat and training mine cassettes between the State Treasury and Belma, a company that is part of the Polish Armaments Group.
The delivery of MN-123 type mines is scheduled for 2027–2029. The value of the contract is PLN 3.4 billion. The aim of this purchase is to increase the capability for rapidly establishing anti-tank barriers. The mines will be adapted to modern scatterable mine-laying systems using specialized tracked carriers and the Kroton system.
A contract of such high value is expected to ensure Belma stable economic prospects for the coming years.
“We are living in times that call for lofty words. The homeland is not defended solely by the strength of its army, but also by the strength of its citizens-each and every one of us,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. “It is remarkable that we have such gems in Poland as Belma-perhaps not fully utilized or promoted globally – that are capable of securing extraordinary contracts.”
The Ministry of National Defence does not rule out that Belma could expand into countries such as Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, as well as non-NATO Moldova.
