As part of the LandTravel project, we prepared a ranking of the most popular attractions in Bydgoszcz according to travel bloggers on YouTube. Using advanced AI analytics, we analyzed over 20 videos created in the past 5 years in various languages. For the vast majority of these creators, it was their first visit to Bydgoszcz. At the same time, due to their interests, they visit many places, which gives them a basis for comparison with other destinations.
- Mill Island (Wyspa Młyńska) – as indicated in the title, this is the most frequently mentioned place in blog materials. It is often described with terms such as “the heart of Bydgoszcz,” “a green oasis,” “beautifully revitalized,” “atmospheric,” and “most visited.” Creators also admire the contrast in architecture.
- The Man Crossing the River – it does not appear as often as Mill Island, but it is discussed quite intensively as a unique attraction due to its balancing form. One Eastern creator called it a “symbol of change.” Its modern design is widely praised.
- Granaries on the Brda River (Spichrze nad Brdą) – they probably appear most often in visual representations as the city’s logo. Creators like to call them a “symbol of the city,” and their harmony with the surroundings is also appreciated.
- The Deluge Fountain (Fontanna Potop) – described as an “emotional symbol of the city” and “spectacular.” Viewers are impressed by its height (6 meters) and the scenes depicting people and animals struggling for survival. Less often mentioned is the fact that the fountain was rebuilt decades after being melted down.
- The Archer Statue in Kochanowski Park (Łuczniczka) – it is less frequently visited due to its location away from the Old Town. It is often accompanied by a story about how the sculpture was relocated in the past because some people considered the nude figure controversial.
- Old Market Square (Stary Rynek) – appreciated for the attraction featuring Master Twardowski and the Bydgoszcz clock located on the 18th meridian.
- Museum of Soap and the History of Dirt (Muzeum Mydła i Historii Brudu) – appears in many videos, which may indicate effective promotion.
- Bydgoszcz Canal (Kanał Bydgoski) – due to its distance from the Old Town, it is not shown as often. Occasionally, there are mentions of its museum.
- Opera Nova – mainly admired for its architectural style, though direct references appear in fewer than one in four analyzed videos.
- Water Tower (Wieża Ciśnień) – appreciated for its neo-Gothic red-brick style and observation deck.
