Poland and Ukraine Are Able to Jointly Manage Drones. This Cooperative Capability Was Forged in Bydgoszcz

The war in Ukraine has brought the country not only enormous progress in drone technologies but also in battlefield management. A few days ago, Ukrainian Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov announced that the Mission Control center had coordinated more than 150,000 drone operations. Mission Control uses the Ukrainian drone system Delta, which underwent extensive testing in Bydgoszcz.

During the development of Delta, Ukrainians focused on ensuring that it met NATO standards. The minister points out that the system has significantly reduced frontline bureaucracy. In 2024, Delta was tested during the CWIX exercises at the NATO Joint Force Training Centre. At that time, as part of Polish-Ukrainian cooperation, it was successfully integrated with the Polish TOPAZ system produced by WB Electronics. TOPAZ specializes in the automation of command and artillery fire control. Recently, it has also been adapted for drone management.

The aim of the CWIX interoperability exercises, which are organized annually in Bydgoszcz, is to integrate the systems of NATO member states. External partners are also invited, as in this case Ukraine.
